Audits such as BSCI, Sedex/SMETA and WRAP are common among export-focused suppliers, which simplifies onboarding for buyers who already operate compliance programmes.

Quality control still benefits from a structured approach: a sealed sample to lock the fit and construction, an inline check during bulk, and a final AQL inspection before shipment. Treat the first order as a trial run, document every measurement and tolerance, and keep a single approved sample as your reference throughout the relationship.

Minimum order quantities for apparel typically start around a few hundred pieces per style and colour, though this varies with fabric complexity and whether you need custom development. Stock-fabric programmes can run lower MOQs, while bespoke knits or specialist washes push them higher.

Lead times of roughly four to eight weeks for bulk are normal once samples are approved, and the short shipping distance to Europe — a few days by truck — is a major advantage over Asian sourcing. Build a realistic calendar that accounts for sampling rounds, fabric lead time and your own approval cycles, and you will avoid the rush charges that erode margin.

A successful first order begins with a clear tech pack: measurements, fabric weight and composition, colours with Pantone references, print or embroidery placement, and labelling. The more precise your brief, the more comparable and accurate the quotes you receive — and the fewer surprises in bulk.
